The MQuest Smartcard Terminal MQR-AC3/TA3 is an intelligent device that uses a smart controller and a reader module based on the Near Field Communication (NFC) chip.

A sleek and modern design, together with a LCD display and LED indicator that give off a refreshing blue glow, set the terminal apart from conventional smartcard readers in the market. Using the flush mount option, the reader extends only 10mm from the mounting surface, giving it one of the lowest profiles in the market. The antenna is placed unobtrusively underneath the keypad area, keeping in line with the design.

It is able to read most of the popular contactless IC card technologies such as ISO14443A/B and Sony FeliCa. The NFC command set, such as peer to peer communication, smart tag etc., can also be implemented.

The terminal is also equipped with non volatile memory to store parameters as well as transaction data. The standalone version MQR-TA3 is equipped with TCP/IP networking, 1 relay output and 2 opto-isolated inputs to facilitate integration with external systems.

For security, the terminal has a Security Access Module (SAM) socket which allows the inclusion of a SAM device to protect sensitive information and also to act as a key server.

Basic parameters controlling the behaviour of the reader, including selection of the type(s) of contactless IC cards to be read, can be easily configured using the on-board membrane keypad.
